Research

Dr Parker's research interests include death and mourning in literature, Giuseppe Ungaretti, late style and old-age creativity, Italian visual culture and critical theory (psychoanalysis). She completed her AHRC-funded doctoral thesis entitled 'The poetics of loss and mourning in the later poetry of Giuseppe Ungaretti' in 2009, and is now working on a number of research projects, including one on trauma in Margherita's Guidacci's poetry and another on mourning and poetic language in Patrizia Valduga.

Italian language and literature, including modern Italian literature (FHS Papers VIII and XI, especially 20th-century Italian poetry) and Prelims courses on the History of the Sonnet, Giuseppe Ungaretti and Modern Italian Narrative.
