Micah Mackay
Research
I am a doctoral student in the Publication Before Print Doctoral Centre working on the Hearing the Page project. My research focuses on scribal correction, error, and variation in late medieval carols and what this may be able to tell us about performance and the oral culture of the late medieval period. My research also considers the development of the carol form and connections between English carols, French dance-songs, and Latin ecclesiastical musical forms.
My other research interests include medieval pilgrimage and Jewish-Christian relations across the medieval period.
My research is funded by the Leverhulme Doctoral Scholarship and the Balliol Dervorguilla Scholarship.
