Research
I work on contemporary literature and film in Latin America, with a particular focus on Argentina and its poetry. I co-edited, with Jorge Locane, The Routledge Companion to Twenty-First Century Latin American Poetry. With Mark Leech, I translated and introduced the poems of Sergio Raimondi in Selected Poems (Liverpool, 2023). I have published a book on the cinematic adaptation of poetry in Argentina, entitled Moving Verses, and a volume edited with David M.J. Wood, The Poetry-Film Nexus in Latin America, as well as a volume of translations of Cristian Aliaga's travel prose poetry, Music for Unknown Journeys. I am an editor of Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies. I co-edited Latin American Cultural Studies: A Reader (Routledge, 2017, pbk 2019). I am currently working on tenderness in Latin American literature, theatre and film; and on translating the poetry of Juan Carlos Bustriazo Ortiz.
Teaching
Across the whole of the Prelims (first-year) literature Spanish course, including Latin American cinema; Latin American options for FHS (second and final year), including literature and film, as well as translation (Spanish into English).
Graduate Supervision
I am currently supervising MPhil and DPhil students working on aspects of Latin American and particularly Southern Cone literature, film, and cultural studies. I would welcome potential graduate students wishing to study in these areas.
