Research

Ann Jefferson's research interests lie in the field of C19th and C20th fiction, autobiography, criticism and theory. Her publications include books on the Nouveau Roman, Nathalie Sarraute, and Stendhal. Her most recent book is Biography and the Question of Literature in France(2007), and she is currently working on the history of the idea of genius in France. She has supervised doctoral theses on Michel Leiris, Nathalie Sarraute, Céline, Beckett, Marguerite Duras, Mikhail Bakhtin, Christine Brooke-Rose, the essay as form, the relations between the nouveau roman and the nouvelle vague, the realist novel, and a number of topics in literary theory.

Teaching

French Language and Literature, especially C19th and C20th French prose. She lectures on topics in the C19th and C20th.
