Funding Opportunities for 2026 Entry

The Faculty has one of the largest number of studentships/funding opportunities available of any Modern Languages department in the country.  All applications received are automatically considered for a number of funding opportunities, but these are highly competitive, particularly at Masters (PGT) level.

All applicants who apply by the 07 January 2026 deadline are automatically considered for any funding held within the Faculty and other funding held within the University, including the AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards, Clarendon Scholarships, and Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships. The Faculty are particularly proud to be funding applicants to the Academic Futures programme which seeks to address under-representation and help improve equality, diversity and inclusion in our graduate student body.

Applicants to Faculty courses are also eligible for funding from other schemes, some of which require further application materials to be submitted, or additional actions to be taken - details of which can be found on the individual pages:

A full list of funding schemes offered by the University can be found on the Graduate Admissions website, which applicants are strongly recommended to consult. Details of further Humanities funding schemes are available on the Humanities Division website.

Some of the Modern Languages specific funding opportunities are listed below.  [These do not need a separate application].  Where a college is specified applicants to all colleges will be considered but the eventual recipient will need to undertake their course at the specified college.
