The most recent episode of the BBC's much-loved history of art programme "Fake or Fortune", presented by MML graduate Fiona Bruce and gallery owner Philip Mould, centred on a picture by a Scottish painter, Katherine Read (1723-1778). Our very own Professor Catriona Seth FBA is a recognised authority on the artist. Katherine Read travelled extensively during her lifetime and lived in France, Italy and India as well as the British Isles. She was a very successful painter in London in the middle of the eighteenth-century.
