Catarina Alhinha is a first-year DPhil student based at St Antony's College, Oxford. She is a highly motivated researcher and aspiring academic, with several published works in Portuguese literature, ranging from academic journal entries to her published novel, Des.aniversário: o livro por publicar. She holds both a First-Class MA & BA in Portuguese and English literature, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Lisbon, and from the NOVA University Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), respectively. 

She has garnered several academic awards throughout her time as a student, consistently ranking among the very top of her cohort. In 2022, she received the Excellence Award for Best Graduate from the University of Lisbon. Prior to starting her DPhil, she was a member of the research team of the European project VAST: Values Across Space and Time, dedicated to fairy tales and digital humanities, a project funded by the European Commission, and later joined the research project Estranhar Pessoa at the Institute of Literature and Tradition Studies based in Lisbon (IELT), with whom she maintains her collaboration.

Broadly, her research interests centre on modernist and contemporary women's writing in Portugal, and Fernando Pessoa Studies. She is working under Prof. Simon Park on a research project dealing with female authorship in the 20th century in Portugal.
