Designed for students of Romance languages, this seminar-workshop will bring together the practices of art and translation to respond to the poetry of Catalan poet, activist, and artist, Mari Chordà (b. 1942). In a relaxed setting, we will ask what is required of a poetry translator when faced with multi-layered texts. Participants will be invited to create their own translations using texts and art materials.
The seminar will be conducted by the translator Beth Caygill (Queen Mary University of London) and is open to all those interested.
