Over a hundred students across 15 universities in the UK took part in the Choix Goncourt du Royaume-Uni. They chose Laurent Mauvignier as their winner for *La Maison Vide*. Dagmara Nogal represented Oxford for the final deliberations held in London at the Institut Français before the ceremony and cocktail at the residence of French Ambassador H.E. Hélène Duchêne. Professor Catriona Seth, who launched the UK Choix Goncourt seven years ago, was the mistress of ceremonies and was delighted to welcome Philippe Claudel, president of the Académie Goncourt, as the star guest.
Catriona said: "It is always such a joyful occasion. The students spoke movingly about all four shortlisted books and showed great sensitivity in their insights. I know that for the French diplomatic team (including Ambassador Duchêne who is graciously hosting us) and for many of the academics present this is one of the highlights of our year!"
