Professor Claire Williams has been featured on the BBC Radio 4 discussion programme, ‘In Our Time’. The latest episode of the popular, long-running programme is due to be aired on 11 June and will subsequently available as a podcast. In the programme, Prof Williams, Dr Viviane Carvalho da Annunciação (Cambridge) and Dr Ana Cláudia Suriani da Silva (UCL), talk about the life and works of the great nineteenth-century Brazilian writer Machado de Assis (1839-1908), well known to second-year students of Portuguese at the Faculty of Modern Languages. The host, Misha Glenny, was a guest speaker at the Sub-Faculty of Portuguese’s Brazil Week event in 2015.
