About the Queen's Translation Exchange (QTE)

Based at The Queen’s College, Oxford, QTE's mission is to inspire lifelong engagement in languages and international culture, and in particular to encourage young language learners to continue with their studies through their schooling and beyond.

Our programmes include the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators, a national translation competition for schools; Think Like a Linguist, a sustained engagement programme for Year 8 pupils in the North West; and our Creative Translation Ambassadors scheme, through which we train university students to design and lead creative translation workshops in schools. We run regular events in Oxford and have hosted numerous translation residencies. In recent years, we have also developed an advocacy strand to our work, contributing to policy debates around languages education and the role of languages in public life.
