Community Languages Ambassadors will be involved in a new trial outreach scheme aiming to support Year 10 and 11 students at The Oxford Academy (TOA) in Littlemore who are taking a GCSE in Arabic, Polish or Portuguese as a home, heritage, or community language. Following some initial training, this will involve delivering after-school exam preparation sessions at TOA twice a term with the small group of students.

You will be paid £14.67 an hour (plus holiday pay) and should expect to work approximately 12 hours across the academic year. You will be given training from the Faculty's Schools Liaison Officer and the school's MFL Subject Lead at the start of the year and general guidance throughout the year.

Languages Ambassadors and mentors can have a real impact on school pupils’ engagement with and motivation for studying languages at school, something we are aiming to increase through our outreach work. For this reason, we are looking for applicants who are passionate about advocating for language learning and working with young people to widening access to languages at GCSE, A-level, and beyond.

A full job description for the Community Languages Ambassador role can be found here.

To apply for this role, please complete this online application form with some personal details as well as information about your motivations and suitability for the role. Applications will close on Friday 5th September at midday.

Please note that students who will be on their year abroad during the 2025-26 academic year will not be eligible for this role as sessions will be held in person.

Successful Ambassadors will be required to complete training that will introduce you to educational inequalities and outreach, inclusive practices, and safeguarding. You will also undergo a Right to Work check as well as an Enhanced DBS check to ensure that you are eligible to work in schools/with young people.
