Congratulations to Aditi Gupta, who has won this year’s doctoral prize of The Society for the Study of French History (SSFH). The Ralph Gibson Bursary is awarded annually to an outstanding PhD student in his/her fourth year at a UK or Irish University, to facilitate the completion of a PhD thesis in French history.
Aditi says, "I am grateful to SSFH. This bursary will help me complete my doctoral degree in the best possible conditions."
Aditi is currently completing an AHRC-funded project which will shine a light on the life and work of Jean-Baptiste Gentil (1726-1799), a French East India Company officer who spent twenty-five years in different parts of India, where he constituted his collection of manuscripts, art albums, maps, and material culture from the subcontinent.
