Join us to celebrate the launch of this disc with a short programme of live song, readings, and discussion at St. Hugh’s College
In association with ASYLUM WELCOME
A vocal opponent of militarism and fascism, Bertolt Brecht was driven out of Germany by his opposition to the Nazi government. He found refuge in Denmark and, later, the United States. In exile he wrote plays (on themes of war, displacement and populist dictatorship) and scores of poems, many of them reflecting on what it is to be a migrant and a refugee. ‘Exile’ brings together a selection, in English, set to music by the Danish composer Niels Rønsholdt.
The evening is dedicated to those who are still forced today by poverty, war and conflict to leave their homes.
Entry to the concert is free to all. Registration is required.
