Oxford Winner of Postgraduate prize

Helen Craske (3rd year French D.Phil.) has won the 2019 R. Gapper Postgraduate Essay prize, awarded by the Society for French Studies, for her essay ‘Periodicals as Proxénètes: Erotic Complicity in Don Juan (1895-1900)’. The judges described it as ‘excellent, original and elegant; a very sophisticated and masterful essay, the prose style engaging and fluent’.

The award includes a cash prize of £750, expenses-paid travel to the next annual conference of the Society for French Studies, and citation in the French Studies Bulletin and on the Society’s website.
