On Saturday 24 January, Magdalen college will be hosting a symposium to celebrate the life and work of Professor Martin McLaughlin (former Agnelli-Serena Professor of Italian Studies 2001-2017, and Emeritus Fellow of Magdalen College 2017-2025).
The symposium will take place in the Magdalen College Auditorium, with presentations from colleagues and former students regarding the major fields of study in which Martin researched and taught, including Alberti, Italian Renaissance literature, Calvino, and translation. This afternoon session is also designed to allow as much opportunity as possible for all colleagues and friends to talk, comment, exchange memories, and to discuss and celebrate the many facets of Martin's scholarly work.
Evensong in the College Chapel that evening will include prayers giving thanks for Martin’s life and work.
